

Judo is one of the sports included in the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) program, an international multi-sport event for young athletes aged 14 to 18.
The YOG were created to promote Olympic values among youth and to offer them their first Olympic experience.
The History of Judo at the YOG
Judo was included from the very first edition of the Youth Olympic Games, held in Singapore in 2010.
Individual Competition
The weight categories are similar to senior competitions, but adapted to the participants’ age:
- Men:
-55 kg, -66 kg, -81 kg, +81 kg
- Women:
-44 kg, -52 kg, -63 kg, +63 kg
Judo at the YOG also features a mixed team event, where young judokas from different countries join together to form international teams.
This format reflects the values of teamwork and collaboration promoted by both judo and the Olympic Movement.
In addition to competitions, athletes participate in workshops on Olympic values, nutrition, and career management in sport.
The YOG focus heavily on sportsmanship and camaraderie, beyond the pursuit of medals.
