

The mixed team judo event is a competition where male and female judokas unite to represent their country.
Introduced for the first time at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, this event embodies the values of equality, collaboration, and mutual support, which are essential to judo.
Team Composition
A mixed team includes 6 judokas: 3 men and 3 women, each in a different weight category.
Olympic weight categories:
- Men: -73 kg, -90 kg, +90 kg
- Women: -57 kg, -70 kg, +70 kg
Each athlete faces an opponent in the same (or closest) weight category in a series of matches.
How the Event Works
Team Matches: Each team competes in up to 6 bouts.
The team that wins the most bouts wins the match.
In Case of a Tie:
If both teams win 3 bouts each, a decisive match is held.
The weight category for this match is drawn at random.
Fight duration
The rules for each individual match follow the same principles as regular judo competitions (4 minutes, and Golden Score if tied).
Event objective
The goals of the Event is to promote gender equality, team spirit, and it offers an exciting and dynamic experience for spectators.
